20g Metal Slice for Surf, Rock and Estuary Fishing

This compact 20g metal slice is made for covering water from beaches, rock ledges, breakwalls, jetties and estuary shorelines.

Its slim profile casts well into wind and sinks quickly, making it useful when fish are feeding beyond normal casting range or holding deeper in gutters, channels and around reef edges.

It can be used for Australian salmon, tailor, dart, bonito, trevally, flathead, mackerel and other fish feeding on small baitfish.

How to Fish It

Begin with a steady medium-speed retrieve. Speed it up when salmon, tailor, bonito or mackerel are actively chasing bait. Flathead will hit it fished slowly in gutters.

If fish follow without striking, wind quickly for several turns and then pause. Allow the lure to sink before beginning the next retrieve. Fish will often take the lure as it drops.

Short lifts of the rod tip can also be used to make the lure change direction during the retrieve. Around deeper water, let it sink closer to the bottom and work it back with a series of lifts and controlled drops.

Watch the line while the lure is sinking. A sudden stop, jump or slackening of the line may indicate a strike.

Hook Setup

The lure is fitted with a front stinger hook and a soldered size #8 rear treble.

Having hooks at both ends provides coverage for fish that strike from the front, underneath or behind the lure.
