2-Hook Bream & Flathead Paternoster Dropper Rig – 15lb with 2/0 Beak Hooks & Green Lumo Beads

BAIT IT. CAST IT. FIND THE FISH.

Bream and flathead fishing doesn't need to be complicated.

You need a reliable trace, strong hooks that suit natural baits, and a rig that keeps those baits working close to the bottom where fish are feeding.

The ReproBaits 2-Hook Bream & Flathead Paternoster Rig is designed around exactly that idea.

Built with 15lb (6.8kg) fishing line, two size 2/0 beak hooks and large green luminescent beads, this pre-tied dropper loop rig gives you two bait presentations working at once.

A top swivel makes connecting to your main line straightforward, while a dedicated bottom sinker loop lets you choose the sinker style and weight that suits your fishing conditions.

Add some fresh prawn, pilchard or fish strips.

Cast into a likely channel, gutter or drop-off.

And let the bait do the work.

TWO BAITS WORKING AT ONCE

Bream and flathead are often found feeding around sandy channels, drop-offs, estuary edges and deeper gutters.

While bream regularly search around structure and along the bottom for food, flathead often lie in wait near sandy patches and channel edges.

A two-hook paternoster rig allows you to present two natural baits at different positions above your sinker.

Each rig features:

2 dropper loops.
2 size 2/0 beak hooks.
2 large green lumo beads.
2 bait presentations working together.

The hooks are positioned 35cm apart along the main trace, providing separation between the two bait presentations.

You can also experiment with different baits on each hook to discover what the fish prefer.

Try prawn on one hook.

A strip of pilchard on the other.

Then pay attention to which bait gets the bites.

It's a simple way to learn what's working without constantly changing your entire rig.

SIZE 2/0 BEAK HOOKS

The right hook makes a difference when fishing with natural bait.

Each ReproBaits Bream & Flathead Paternoster Rig is fitted with two size 2/0 beak hooks, a versatile choice for presenting a range of common Australian saltwater fishing baits.

They're well suited to:

  • Fresh or peeled prawns

  • Pilchard pieces

  • Fish strips

  • Squid strips

  • Cut bait

  • Other suitable natural saltwater baits

The curved beak-style hook is designed to hold bait securely and provide a reliable hooking point when a fish takes the bait.

A size 2/0 hook is a practical option when targeting larger bream and flathead that are willing to take a substantial bait.

It also makes the rig useful for other inshore species feeding on similar offerings.

15LB TRACE – A PRACTICAL BALANCE

Bait fishing for bream and flathead often means working around tidal currents, sandy bottom, scattered structure and changing water conditions.

You need enough strength to handle a good fish without making the rig unnecessarily heavy.

The 15lb (approximately 6.8kg) trace provides a practical balance for general estuary, beach and inshore bait fishing.

It's suited to targeting:

  • Yellowfin bream

  • Black bream

  • Dusky flathead

  • Sand flathead

  • Other estuary and inshore species

The main trace features 35cm spacing between the swivel connection and first dropper, between the two droppers, and between the lower dropper and sinker-loop knot.

Each dropper loop extends approximately 9cm to its hook eye, keeping the hooks positioned away from the main trace.

It's a straightforward arrangement designed to keep two bait presentations working close to the bottom.

LARGE GREEN LUMO BEADS

Sometimes a small visual feature near the bait is worth having.

Each hook is fitted with a large green luminescent bead, providing an additional point of visual interest close to the bait.

These beads may be particularly useful when fishing in:

  • Slightly discoloured estuary water

  • Deeper channels

  • Beach gutters

  • Early morning light

  • Late afternoon conditions

  • Overcast weather

The green lumo beads can provide a visual point for fish investigating the bait.

They're not there to replace good bait or careful fishing.

Fresh bait, suitable conditions and finding feeding fish still matter most.

The beads simply add another feature to the presentation.

CHOOSE YOUR OWN SINKER

Fishing conditions change.

A quiet estuary with a gentle tidal run doesn't require the same sinker as an open beach with a strong sweep.

That's why the ReproBaits 2-Hook Bream & Flathead Paternoster Rig includes a 13cm bottom sinker attachment loop.

Rather than being tied permanently to one sinker weight, the loop lets you attach your preferred compatible sinker.

Fish lighter when conditions allow.

Choose a heavier sinker when:

  • The tidal current increases

  • The wind picks up

  • You need to reach a distant gutter

  • The surf begins moving your rig

  • You need to hold your bait in position

Use a ball, bean, star or another suitable sinker depending on the water you're fishing.

One rig. Your choice of sinker.

HOW TO FISH THE RIG

1. Connect the swivel

Attach the 2cm top swivel to your main fishing line using a suitable knot or connection.

The swivel provides a convenient connection point and helps reduce line twist.

2. Attach your sinker

Secure your preferred sinker to the 13cm bottom weight loop.

Choose a weight that will hold the rig in position without unnecessarily overpowering your setup.

3. Bait both hooks

Thread your chosen bait securely onto the two 2/0 beak hooks.

Prawns, pilchard pieces and fish strips are all good places to start.

You can use the same bait on both hooks or try two different offerings.

4. Cast into likely feeding areas

Look for:

  • Estuary channels

  • Sandy drop-offs

  • River mouths

  • Beach gutters

  • Sand patches near structure

  • Edges of weed beds

  • Tidal current lines

  • Deeper holes and gutters

5. Let the bait work

Allow the sinker to settle and maintain enough contact with your line to detect bites.

Bream may pick at a bait before committing, while flathead can strike suddenly when a suitable offering comes within reach.

Give the fish an opportunity to find your bait.

If nothing happens, change your casting distance, adjust your bait or move to another promising patch of water.

Finding feeding fish is often more important than making the rig complicated.
