At 65mm, the Sea Bug is built to imitate the small crayfish and nippers that bream, flathead, bass and perch dig out of sand and weed year-round — a scent-loaded soft plastic with enough action in the tail and legs to work on its own with barely any rod movement.

Fish it slow. A pump-and-sit retrieve along the bottom is what gets bites — work it, let it settle, and be ready, because most strikes come on the drop as it's sinking back down.

Rigging

Runs on a jighead for most situations, weedless through grass and snaggy structure, or on a running ball sinker rig when you need it working just off the bottom in current.

Matching colour to conditions

Light colours read best on bright, clear days; darker colours work better overcast or in the low light of dawn and dusk. Gold shades earn their keep in rips and gutters where the water's stirred up.
